Key Responsibilities –
1. Battery & BMS Validation
- Perform testing, validation, and characterization of Li-ion and Na-ion battery packs.
- Execute BMS functional testing, including protection, alarms, thermal control, cell balancing, and SOC/SOH accuracy performance.
- Conduct end-to-end validation of battery packs as per internal and customer test plans.
- Analyse cell/battery test data (charge–discharge cycles, cycle life, temperature behavior).
2. ESS/BESS & Container-level System Integration
- Lead functional validation of ESS/BESS systems including PCS interface, EMS communication, and safety interlocks.
- Participate in container-level integration: HVAC, fire suppression, isolation monitoring, HV distribution, and system controls.
- Support FAT/SAT for energy storage systems and site-level commissioning.
3. Communication Protocols & System Interface
- Configure and validate communication between BMS and EMS/Supervisory Controllers using:
- CAN
- Modbus RTU/TCP
- Proprietary BMS communication protocols
- Debug communication issues, message mapping, and DBC handling.
4. High Voltage System Integration
- Work with HV Junction Boxes, pre-charge circuits, contactors, fuses, HVIL, and safety relays.
- Validate insulation resistance, grounding architecture, and safety logic implementation.
- Support system integration with PCS/inverters and third-party equipment.
5. Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare detailed test reports, failure analysis documents, and validation summaries.
- Ensure compliance with IEC, UL, and other safety standards relevant to battery systems.
- Support engineering change management, BOM reviews, and design validation cycles.
6. Cross-team Support
- Provide technical support to application engineering, field deployment, and customer teams.
- Collaborate with design, firmware, and testing teams to close validation gaps.
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and issue closure for field or lab failures.
Required Skill Set
Core Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of Lithium-ion & Sodium-ion chemistry, battery behavior, and safety mechanisms.
- Deep understanding of:
- Battery Pack architecture
- BMS architecture (Hardware + Firmware)
- SOC/SOH algorithms
- Cell balancing strategies (Passive/Active)
- Hands-on experience with:
- Battery testers (Arbin, Neware, Re-Power etc.)
- Environmental chambers
- HV test equipment (IR tester, HiPot, Oscilloscope)
- Experience on ESS/BESS integration, containerization, HVAC systems, safety systems.
- Strong command over CAN, Modbus, DBC decoding, and protocol debugging.
Software & Tools
- CAN analyzers (Vector CANalyzer/CANoe, Kvaser, Peak).
- Data analytics tools (Excel, Python basics preferred).
- Familiarity with EMS/PCS interfaces is a plus.
Qualification & Experience
- You have B Tech/BE in Electrical/Electronic engineering or comparable study paths
- You must have 3-5 years of experience
